The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash on Thursday evening in Edinburg. The accident happened about 25 miles north of Edinburg on US 281 at around 6:10 p.m.
The collision involved a 2021 Lexus GX460 and a 2014 Nissan Sentra. There was only one person in each vehicle.
Both cars collided head-on as the Lexus was driving northbound and the Nissan was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 281.
According to the DPS, the driver of the Nissan, 46-year-old Edinburg resident Roberto Carlos Robles, passed away on the spot. The Lexus driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials.
