The Peoria Police Department rerouted a motor vehicle crash on Sunday early morning. The accident happened close to 15th and Peoria Avenue at around 3 a.m. The collision involved a car and a truck.
Matthew Heard, 46 was traveling east on Peoria Avenue when he veered into the oncoming westbound lane of traffic and struck a truck, according to the officials.
Matthew Heard, the car’s driver, was taken to a hospital where he later passed away. Two adults who were inside the truck were treated for minor wounds at the hospital.
The truck driver displayed indicators of intoxication. After being investigated for DUI, he was freed.
The fatal crash is being investigated. Additional details regarding the crash are not available currently.
