A fatal hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a man while he was crossing a street in the Florence area of Los Angeles, as reported by police on Monday. The incident occurred around 11:05 p.m. Sunday near Avalon Boulevard and 81st Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Investigators revealed that a possibly white-colored sedan was speeding southbound on Avalon Boulevard when it veered into the northbound lanes to overtake other vehicles, striking the 46-year-old man crossing east on Avalon Boulevard in an unmarked crosswalk. The vehicle fled the scene, continuing southbound on Avalon Boulevard from 83rd Street.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the fatal crash.
The victim’s identity is withheld pending notification of relatives by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
