On Thursday, a 46-year-old man, from Yacolt, lost his life following a traffic collision in South Thurston County.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle crash took place on I-5, just north of mile marker 90. Authorities received the first report of the accident at 11:50 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that the man was driving a white 2016 Ford Transit van northbound on Interstate 5 when the vehicle drifted off the roadway on the right side and crashed into a guardrail.
After that, the vehicle crossed all lanes and hit a concrete barrier on the left shoulder, finally coming to a stop partially in the left lane. The man was not buckled up at the time of the collision. The roadway was partly closed for two hours and 10 minutes as crews worked at the scene. Officials believe that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash. No other details are available.
