A 46-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man lost their lives following a multi-vehicle accident in Taylor.
As per the initial information, the deadly three-vehicle wreck took place on I-94 near Monroe Street. The preliminary reports showed that a silver GMC Envoy was driving eastbound when it went over the median and into westbound traffic.
The Envoy then crashed into a GMC Yukon and a motorcycle head-on. The driver and passenger of the Envoy as well as the motorcyclist died as a result of the accident. The Envoy driver was identified as a 46-year-old man from Taylor, the passenger a 34-year-old woman from Westland, and the motorcycle rider was a 45-year-old man from Van Buren Township.
The driver of the Yukon was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Taylor Fire Department. The Yukon’s driver and passenger were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. The freeway was shut down to give way to the investigation. It is unknown why the driver crossed the median. The investigation is ongoing pending medical examiner reports, vehicle inspections and reconstruction reports. No further details are available.
