Authorities identified 46-year-old Jason A Garcia, from Yacolt, as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision on Thursday in South Thurston County.
The fatal single-vehicle crash was reported at 11:50 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5, just north of mile marker 90. According to the investigation reports, Jason A Garcia was driving a white 2016 Ford Transit van northbound on I-5 when the car swerved off the roadway on the right side and hit a guardrail.
After that, the car went over all lanes and slammed into a concrete barrier on the left shoulder, finally coming to a stop partially in the left lane. Garcia was not buckled up at the time of the collision. He suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials.
The roadway was partly shut down for two hours and 10 minutes as crews worked at the scene. Authorities believe that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the accident. No other details are made available.
An investigation is continuing.
