On Sunday evening, a two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of 46-year-old Asuncion Hernandez-Lopez, of Prosser, and a 71-year-old man near Prosser.
The fatal incident took place at Sellards Road and SR 221. As per the reports, Asuncion Hernandez-Lopez was traveling North on State Route 221, approaching Sellards Road, about 12 miles South of Prosser, at around 8:15 p.m. A 71-year-old man heading West on Sellards Road failed to yield to Hernandez-Lopez and crashed into his car.
Officers reported that both men succumbed to their injuries at the crash scene. The identity of the 71-year-old man will be released after notifying the next of kin. Both the victims were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Authorities have not confirmed if drugs or alcohol played a role in the deadly collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
