According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday morning in Bakersfield. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the multi-vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on I-5, north of Twisselman Road. A 2008 International truck was going northbound when the driver failed to notice a 2023 Dodge Caravan towing a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder coming from ahead.
The truck failed to stop and therefore collided with the Pathfinder. As a result of this, the Pathfinder veered towards the right into a barbed wire fence and then went down a dirt embankment. It finally overturned.
The 45-year-old driver of the Pathfinder was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. They have not been identified at this time.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
