45-year-old Torrell Allen dead after a hit-and-run crash in Nashville; driver sought (Nashville, TN)

Officials identified 45-year-old Torrell Allen as the man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle in Nashville while the driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene.

The fatal hit-and run crash took place at approximately 8:20 PM on South Gallatin Pike near the intersection of Due West Avenue. According to the investigation reports, Torrell Allen was crossing Gallatin Pike from east to west when he was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Volt. The driver of the Volt informed the officers that he attempted to avoid hitting the man.

The force of collision sent Allen fall into another lane of traffic. Just then, he was struck by another vehicle which was described as a dark colored pickup truck. That vehicle left the scene after the collision.  The man later succumbed to his injuries. It is unclear if he died at the scene or after being taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Volt did not display any signs of drug or alcohol impairment. Proof from the roadway revealed that the truck might be a Nissan Titan, officials reported. No other information has been provided.

The incident remains under active review.
