Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a tragic incident on April 11, 2024, around 10:00 p.m., involving a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 1 at Beauregard Landry Road.
The collision claimed the life of 45-year-old Ricky Augustine from Marksville.
Initial investigations unveiled that Augustine was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Equinox. The impact resulted in fatal injuries for Augustine, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation as authorities work to determine the sequence of events leading to the crash. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
