The Texas Department Of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident on Saturday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 45-year-old Michael Whisenant.
Around 9:10 a.m., a fatal one-vehicle crash happened on U.S. 96 one and one-half miles north of Center. A 2023 Dodge was travelling north and the vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
The impact ejected the driver from the vehicle. Michael Whisenant, 45, of Center, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Shelby County justice of the peace.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
