45-year-old man dies after semi-truck smashes into building in Pierce County (Pierce County, WA)

A 45-year-old man lost his life when he failed to stop the semi-truck he was driving, crashing into a building on Monday morning.

The driver was going down a steep, windy section of Waller Road at around 7:30 a.m. when the truck approached the intersection at Pioneer Way East. The driver was unable to slam on brakes and missed cars at the intersection, but crashed into a warehouse parking lot.

The tractor turned onto its side and slid into a building and its cabin was crushed. Authorities examined the truck and confirmed that some of the brakes were defective and the driver could not stop.

An investigation is continuing.
