Authorities identified 45-year-old Leo Montenegro as the man who lost his life after getting hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Phoenix.

As per the initial information, Phoenix police actively responded to the area near 27th and Campbell avenues at about 3 a.m. after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian collision. The preliminary reports showed that a man was driving northbound in an SUV when he struck 45-year-old Leo Montenegro.

On arrival, responding officers found Montenegro unresponsive. He was then rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. On the other hand, the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and was not impaired. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
