Authorities identified 45-year-old Gennady Sarkisov, of Sandy, UT, as the man who lost his life following a single-vehicle accident that also injured his passenger on June 14 in Elko County.
The fatal car crash took place at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Highway 93, 7 miles south of West Wendover. According to the investigation reports, a white northbound Suzuki Grand Vitara, driven by Gennady Sarkisov, went over the center line into the southbound lane and traveled off the road.
Sarkisov overcorrected as a result of which the vehicle rotated back across the road and rolled on its side. Due to the impact, Gennady Sarkisov was ejected from the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Emergency crews transported Sarkisov’s adult passenger to a hospital with possible serious injuries. Both Sarkisov and his passenger were not buckled up at the time of the accident. Officials suspect impairment as a factor in the crash. No further details were provided.
The incident remains under review.
