In a tragic pedestrian accident early Monday in Lynnwood, a pedestrian standing on northbound I-5 near 44th Avenue West was struck and killed by a Hyundai Venue SUV. Frewoini Woldemariam, a 45-year-old Seattle woman, was fatally injured in the collision, which occurred around midnight.
The driver, a 31-year-old Granite Falls woman, sustained injuries and was transported to Swedish Edmonds. The Washington State Patrol received multiple calls reporting the person standing in the middle of the interstate.
Preliminary investigations suggest drugs and alcohol may have played a role in the fatal crash. As troopers continue their inquiry, no arrests have been made.
