45-year-old Cory Buckley died in a multi-vehicle accident on South Cobb Drive (Marietta, GA)

On Sunday evening, a multi-vehicle accident claimed the life of 45-year-old Cory Buckley, a resident of Marietta, on South Cobb Drive, Cobb Police confirmed.

Cory Buckley, 45, was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta following the crash in heavy rain just before 6:20 p.m. but was later declared deceased, Cobb Police Officer Shenise Barner stated.

Barner mentioned that the wreck between Barclay Circle and Lake Circle, just south of Kennesaw State University’s Marietta campus, took place when Buckley lost control of the red 1997 Ford Ranger he was driving as he headed east on South Cobb Drive in the rain.

The Ford crossed into the westbound lanes into the way of a gold 2006 Honda Pilot and a red 2017 Toyota Prius, police said. The front of the Honda crashed into the passenger side of the Ford, and then struck the left side of the Toyota.

Barner added that Buckley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was thrown from the vehicle following the crash. The driver of the Honda Pilot, 27-year-old Pedro Jesus of Marietta, was taken to Kennestone Hospital with injuries that police believed were not life-threatening. The driver for the Toyota Prius, 33-year-old Whitley Oliver, a resident of Forest Park, did not require medical aid at the scene, Barner added.

An investigation is continuing.
