A tragic discovery unfolded in Fairfield as a crashed pickup truck was found just off Cement Hill Road, west of Peabody Road, around 8:30 a.m. The driver, a 44-year-old from Oakland, was found injured outside the vehicle. Unfortunately, he had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the crash likely occurred overnight and due to the truck’s hidden location, it remained undiscovered until daylight. It is believed that the driver was ejected during the fatal crash. No other individuals or vehicles were involved.
The Fairfield Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the motor vehicle accident. The driver’s identity will be released once the next of kin has been notified.
