A tragic crash on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a Minnesota man on US 69 near Rusk, Texas. According to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident occurred when the driver of an 18-wheeler was traveling south on US 69 at an unsafe speed given the wet road conditions.

At the time of the crash, a 2023 RAM Van was also traveling south on US 69. The driver of the 18-wheeler lost control, causing the van to veer off the west edge of the roadway and collide with a tree.

The driver of the van, identified as Nicholas Schintgen, 44, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, tragically lost his life in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a justice of the peace.
