A 44-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a box truck early Tuesday morning in the east valley.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run accident took place in the area of Charleston Boulevard. Police later found a box truck believed to be related to the incident and detained 34-year-old Jeffrey Dungo of Henderson.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, units were sent to the area of Charleston Boulevard between Hollywood Boulevard and Tree Line Drive involving a GMC box truck and a pedestrian at around 5:42 a.m. on Dec. 28. The preliminary reports showed that the box truck struck and killed the man.
Dungo took off after hitting the pedestrian, but was later located and apprehended. The identity of the deceased has not been released. Charleston was closed down in both directions between Fogg Street and Hollywood Boulevard while crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.
The accident remains under investigation.
