Tara Lyons, 39, is facing charges of intoxication manslaughter after allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian while driving on State Highway 103.
The pedestrian accident occurred around 9 p.m. on Friday near the San Augustine County Line. The victim, identified as Jeremy Stone, 44, was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal crash. Lyons, driving a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, was unharmed.
It remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. The reason for Stone’s presence on the highway remains unknown. Intoxication manslaughter is a second-degree felony, carrying a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
