A fatal crash on the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) occurred around 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, claiming the life of a 44-year-old man identified as Cesar Arzate Roman. The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
Arzate Roman, driving a gray Volkswagen Rabbit, changed lanes and clipped a gray Toyota Corolla before colliding with the rear of a school bus and hitting a concrete exit lane barrier. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two passengers from the Volkswagen, aged 44 and 19, sustained minor injuries. The school bus’s 22 passengers were unharmed. Both the bus and Toyota drivers were not intoxicated.
