According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Friday in El Cajon. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on State Route 67, westbound on Interstate 8. A 2010 Ford Econoline van veered off towards the right side of a transition ramp. Subsequently, the vehicle ran off the roadway, hit an advisory sign and crashed into a tree.
The driver of the Ford was identified as a 43-year-old man. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. Insights into the identity of the victim and the cause of the collision are yet to be determined.
The involvement of alcohol and drugs is yet to be determined. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
