In a tragic incident currently under investigation by the Houston Police Department, a fatal crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) claimed the life of 43-year-old Derrick Bates of Houston, Texas.

The incident occurred at 7400 Glen Manor Drive around 7:20 p.m. last Friday, March 29. According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer R. Guzman, Bates was operating a black Yamaha ATV in ditches and traveling westbound near the aforementioned address.

Tragically, Bates collided with a small palm tree near one of the ditches, causing him to lose control and crash the ATV. Paramedics from the Houston Fire Department arrived at the scene but pronounced Bates deceased. The crash did not involve any other vehicles.
