Tragedy struck when 42-year-old San Jose resident Zoe Esther Cheng lost her life in a bicycle accident near Cazadero in Sonoma County. The incident occurred on Hauser Bridge Road, near King Ridge Road, around 1:20 p.m.
While heading west, Cheng encountered a curve in the roadway but could not navigate it. A preliminary investigation by the California Highway Patrol suggests she may have been riding at an unsafe speed. Cheng struck a downed tree near the curve, veering off the road.
She was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her riding partner discovered the fatal crash and alerted emergency responders. There are no other details available at this time.
