A 30-year-old Turlock woman, Leah Doucette, is now facing felony DUI charges after a fatal crash claimed the life of her 42-year-old passenger from Salida.
The motor vehicle accident occurred on State Route 120 near Rushing Hill Lookout, as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Doucette, travelling eastbound, veered off the road and attempted to regain control but flipped her vehicle.
In the ensuing chaos, she was ejected and sustained major injuries. Meanwhile, her passenger was fatally injured and was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased victim has not been disclosed at this time.
Doucette was subsequently arrested and later released to the care of Memorial Medical Center.
