The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a two-vehicle crash on Sunday.
The accident occurred on FM 1173, between Denton and Krum. It happened at around 3 p.m.
According to the officials, a pickup was driving west when it veered into the eastbound lane to avoid hitting stopped traffic. This put the pickup in the path of an eastbound SUV and they crashed.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 42-year-old Kelsey Harris, incurred critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck was reported to have critical injuries and was rushed to a Denton hospital. The identity of this driver has not been disclosed.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
There are no other details available at this time.
