The California Highway Patrol reported a hit-and-run accident in Long Beach on Friday. The accident occurred at 45th Street and Atlantic Avenue.
According to the officials, a vehicle had struck a man and two other parked cars. The pedestrian was hit in such a way that he was jammed between two vehicles.
The driver of the vehicle then tried to flee the scene but was not able to make it very far as he crashed into another vehicle. While the driver tried to escape on foot, the officials were able to arrest the man a little while later.
He has since been identified as 42-year-old Jose Trujillo. Officials report that the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the fatal accident.
The pedestrian incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim has not been disclosed at this time.
