In a tragic incident on Sunday night, a 42-year-old motorist identified as Jennifer Smith of Riverside lost her life in a fatal crash in Jurupa Valley. The motor vehicle accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Van Buren Boulevard, just north of 56th Street.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Smith’s vehicle struck a loose horse in the roadway, resulting in the tragic demise of both the driver and the animal.
Despite a swift response from county fire department paramedics, Smith was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into this heartbreaking incident is currently underway.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
