The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported a hit-and-run accident in Jurupa Valley on Wednesday. The accident occurred in the 5000 block of Mission Boulevard, near Crestmore Road at around 3:30 p.m.
According to the officials, a woman was walking on Mission when she was hit by a white 2012 Toyota Corolla. It is not clear if she had been crossing the road or if she had been walking in one of the lanes at the time.
The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified her as 42-year-old Jamie Pruitt. The vehicle fled the scene before the police could arrive.
The driver of the vehicle was later arrested and charged. The fatal crash is still being investigated by the officials. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
