El Paso Police reported a multi-vehicle accident in East El Paso on March 28. The crash occurred around midnight on George Dieter.

According to the authorities, Enrique Joel Pena, 35, was driving south on George Dieter in a Nissan Rogue when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Metro driven by Isidro Ruiz Jr., 42, from Fabens. Ruiz was stopped at an intersection when he was rear-ended by Pena. The victim was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. Pena suffered minor injuries and faces a murder charge. 

Police determined that Pena was intoxicated at the time of the collision, leading to the felony charge of murder while driving intoxicated. Pena, with prior DWI-related misdemeanor convictions in 2012 and 2014, was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $650,000 bond.
