42-Year-Old Harry Collins III Killed In A Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash In Smith County (Smith County, TX)

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported in Smith County  claiming the life of 42-year-old Harry Collins III, a Tyler resident.

Collins was driving northbound on Hwy 155, just south of Winona, in his Kia Sportage.

In the opposite lane, 22-year-old William C. Chaplinski from Big Sandy was driving a reportedly stolen Nissan Titan. Chaplinski attempted to overtake another vehicle in a no-passing zone, leading to a head-on collision with Collins’ SUV, as reported by DPS.

Upon the arrival of a DPS trooper, Chaplinski  showed signs of alcohol impairment. Collins was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Smith County justice of the peace.

Other information pertaining to the accident is yet to be released, while the motor vehicle accident continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
