On Monday evening, 42-year-old Curray Williams, of St. Martinville, lost his life following a head-on collision in Iberia Parish.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place a little before 6:00 p.m. on Darnell Road near La Belle Boulevard in Iberia Parish. The early reports indicated that a vehicle was heading south on Darnell Road while Williams’ vehicle was going north on Darnell Road.
At some point of time, the first vehicle went over the center line and crashed head-on into Williams’s vehicle in the northbound lane. Williams was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. On arrival, emergency crews rushed him to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The other driver was buckled up at that time. They were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Impairment on the part of both drivers is unclear at this time. Charges are pending against the other driver, officials said. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
