According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Friday afternoon in Porterville. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred westbound on Avenue 184, east of Road 208. A Ford F150 pickup was travelling westbound, approaching a stop sign. At the same time, a white 2019 Ram 1500 pickup was going southbound.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Ford failed to stop for the posted stop sign. As a result of this, the Ford entered the intersection and crashed into the Ram.
The drivers of both vehicles sustained injuries and were rushed to Sierra View Medical Center. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the Ram was identified as 65-year-old Michael Betzinger.
Other insights into the collision are yet to be determined. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
