A fatal crash occurred in Midland County, involving a 41-year-old Midland man, Joe Ruiz, and a 42-year-old McCamey man, Aaron Hernandez. According to the Department of Public Safety’s preliminary investigation, the accident occurred on FM 1788 near mile marker 329.
Both vehicles involved were heading north on the highway. Ruiz, driving a 2014 Ford Van, failed to control his speed and collided with the rear of Hernandez’s 2016 GMC Sierra flatbed. Following the multi-vehicle accident, Ruiz was critically injured and was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Fortunately, Hernandez escaped the incident without injuries.
The officials later identified both victims. There are no other details available at this time.
