The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident in Lubbock County. The multi-vehicle accident occurred at County Road 7700 East of County Road 2110.
Ricky Ekdahl, 48, drove a 2018 Subaru BRZ east on County Road 7700, slightly off the roadway into loose dirt. In an attempt to return to the road, Ekdahl collided with a 1997 Honda Civic driven by David Bockmon, 45, travelling west on County Road 7700.
Bockmon and a passenger, identified as Samantha Anderson, 40, were seriously injured and transported to University Medical Center. Anderson later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Both Bockmon and Anderson were not wearing seatbelts, while Ekdahl, wearing a seatbelt, suffered minor injuries from the fatal crash. Weather conditions were clear, and the road was dry.
