According to the California Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Maria Ayers and 58-year-old Serjio Medina Leon were killed in a motor vehicle crash in Buttonwillow on Monday.
At around 3:30 p.m., Ayers, driving a Ford Focus on Parlier and Buttonwillow Avenue, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a Ford F-150 pickup truck. Ayers and Leon, who were inside the Ford, were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
