The Garden Grove Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Sunday morning.
The truck driven by a woman hit a tree, which caused the pedestrian to be hit. The woman was thrown into the south sidewalk of Chapman Avenue, east of Nelson Avenue. This is according to police officers called to the scene at 1:10 a.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a dead man on the southeast corner of Chapman Avenue and Diane Street, about 75 yards east of the traffic collision.
On-site medical personnel declared the man, 40 dead. The truck’s driver sustained head and leg injuries.
Although it will depend on the Orange County Crime Lab’s findings, it is thought that alcohol and/or drugs contributed to the collision. A fatal crash investigation is still underway.
