A 40-year-old man, from Grand Rapids, suffered injuries following a single-vehicle accident on I-196 Friday afternoon.

As per the initial information, the car crash took place on Interstate 196 near mile marker 63.   The preliminary investigation revealed that the 40-year-old man was heading west on I-196 when his Sedan drifted off the road near mile marker 63 for reasons that are yet to be known.

The car struck several trees and signs before ending up near a ditch. Officers believe that the man had a medical emergency before the accident. On arrival, paramedics transported the victim to St. Mary’s Hospital with unspecified injuries. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
