Authorities identified 40-year-old Joshua Cervantes, of Capistrano Beach, as the man who died following a bicycle crash on Tuesday in San Clemente.
The fatal hit-and-run accident took place at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Avenida La Pata and Avenida Pico. According to the investigation reports, the man was riding an electric bicycle northbound near Avenida Pico when he got hit by a vehicle. The driver of the involved vehicle left the scene after the collision.
On arrival, responders found Cervantes with head and neck trauma. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officers located pieces of the vehicle at the scene and later found the unoccupied vehicle a short distance away. The driver remains at large. No other details are made available.
