According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a motor vehicle accident occurred in Weslaco on Sunday. The crash happened at FM 1575 at around 7:34 a.m.
According to the investigators, a white 2011 Chevrolet Malibu and a 40-year-old man were involved in the collision. The driver of the Malibu traveling northbound disregarded a stop sign, veered off the road, struck a wooden post, and rolled over.
The officials stated that the 40-year-old Carlos Vela was identified as the driver of the Malibu who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the Weslaco Police. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. There are no other details available at this time.
