According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Friday in San Joaquin County. Officials confirmed that four people died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on Highway 99. Out of the four people who died, three were identified as UC Davis students.
The students included Minkyu Geon, Margarette Guinto Ventura, and Codi Orland Mateo. The fourth person was identified as 32-year-old Diannamonick Moeung.
A car traveling the wrong way crashed into the car of the students. Other details about the wreck remain unknown.
Alcohol influence is suspected to be one of the factors that led to the collision. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
