The Polk County Department of Public Safety reported a tragic head-on collision on Thursday. The crash claimed the lives of a mother and three children in Livingston. The multi-vehicle accident occurred just after 10 p.m. on Highway 146 near Millgate Road.
The collision involved a southbound Buick, driven by Shemikia Brown, 34, who lost control of the vehicle. The Buick crossed into northbound traffic, colliding with a GMC Sierra.
Four people, identified later as Brown and her children Kyah, 13; Peyton, 11; and Justice, 2, were fatally injured. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Another child, Aubree, 6, was critically injured and taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The driver of the GMC was unharmed. The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role.
