The California Highway Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident on Sunday. The accident occurred on the 71 Freeway in Chino Hill at around 2:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a vehicle had swerved into the southbound side of the freeway which caused it to collide with one other vehicle head-on. There were four other vehicles that also got caught in the accident. The force of the collision had caused the car of the wrong-way driver to roll several times before crashing into the divider and then bursting into flames.
The drivers of the two vehicles in the initial collision were killed instantly. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed at this time.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. No other details are available at this time.
