The Austin-Travis EMS reported a motor vehicle accident in south Austin on Sunday. The accident occurred in the 5300 block of the southbound Interstate 35 frontage road at around 2:31 a.m.
According to the officials, at least two vehicles were involved in the collision. The crash resulted in one of the vehicles rolling over and bursting into flames before the first responders could arrive.
Four people were fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims are not yet known at this time. Two others were seriously injured and taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
