The Texas Department Of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident occurred in Rusk County on Thursday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 39-year-old Jorge Rubio.
The crash happened on Thursday morning when Rubio was driving a 2015 Kia Forte northbound on State Hwy 322 when Rubio’s vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and struck 25-year-old Zachary Ray Whitehead’s vehicle. Rubio died at the scene. Whitehead was taken to CHRISTUS Mother Frances with undisclosed injuries.
The events leading to the collision are not yet known. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
