The Louisiana State Police reported a two-vehicle accident on Monday.
The accident occurred on Airline Highway, south of South Purpera Avenue.
According to the officials, a 2008 Nissan Frontier was heading north on the highway when it veered off the road into oncoming traffic and hit a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox that was heading south.
The driver of the Frontier, identified as Jennie Alexander, incurred minor injuries.
The driver of the Equinox, along with two other passengers, were injured in the accident. The front passenger, identified as Brandi Hall, incurred critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two occupants were taken to a hospital.
Alexander is facing charges of negligent injuring, negligent homicide, and careless operation.
The fatal accident is still being investigated.
