Tragedy struck on Saturday as a fatal crash claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman on Highway 80 in Mesquite. The victim was identified as Sara Martinez of Dallas.
She was the driver involved in the incident that occurred around 2 a.m. in the 1900 block of eastbound U.S. 80, according to the Mesquite Police Department. Martinez’s Mazda 3 veered off the roadway, colliding with the concrete median barrier. The motor vehicle accident led to the vehicle overturning and throwing off Martinez. She was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. It’s worth noting that heavy rain prevailed at the time, resulting in extremely wet road conditions, which may have played a role in the incident.
