A tragedy struck in North Lubbock County late Wednesday night when 38-year-old Jerry Mercer lost his life after being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian accident occurred just after 10 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1264 and CR 6100.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mercer was walking along the roadway when he was hit by a northbound vehicle on FM 1264. Emergency responders rushed Mercer to UMC for treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle involved did not suffer any injuries in the fatal crash. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.
