A tragic fatal crash in west Phoenix late Tuesday night resulted in the death of a woman and left two others, including a child, hospitalized. Phoenix police reported that the multi-vehicle accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. near the 51st Avenue overpass off Interstate 10. 

Allegedly, 22-year-old Dre Lewis, driving north on 51st Avenue, ran a red light and collided with another vehicle heading east on the I-10 access road, carrying three individuals, including the child who was ejected from the vehicle.

Emergency crews found Lewis with minor injuries, while the other driver and passengers were rushed to the hospital. Sadly, 38-year-old Debbie Alvarez succumbed to her injuries. Lewis, with a BAC over 0.20, was later released from the hospital and charged with manslaughter and extreme DUI, according to authorities.
