The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Carson County on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 60, one mile north of White Deer, at around 3:30 p.m.
According to the officials, an SUV was headed east when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the north edge of the road. The driver then overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid to the right and roll over twice before landing on its wheels in the centre median.
The driver was thrown out of the vehicle due to the force of the collision and was fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified him as 37-year-old Terry Wyant. His passenger, a 14-year-old, sustained severe injuries and is in the hospital.
The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time.
